Industry Q&A with Gaming Trailblazer, DLive
We sat down with Charles Wayn, CEO of DLive—the world’s largest streaming platform on blockchain, to discuss empowering creators, the necessity of efficient payments, and the future of gaming.
Kate Wilson: Tell us about DLive—how are you thriving in today’s environment?
Charles Wayn: DLive is a leading live streaming platform that enables content creators and viewers to connect and interact in real-time. We are a community to a diverse group of content creators, including gamers, musicians, artists, etc. Along with the rest of the live streaming industry, we are experiencing unprecedented growth during the global lockdown when people are actively seeking alternative solutions for authentic engagements. As more and more off-line events are moving towards the digital landscape, we definitely see increasing demand for an established live streaming platform and the high-quality content that DLive offers.
Kate Wilson: What is DLive’s primary mission?
Charles Wayn: Our primary mission is to empower creators and reward communities through our disruptive value-sharing system powered by TRON blockchain and BitTorrent. It is also the first platform that does not take any platform cut from creators’ earnings. Through our unique BTT Staking Feature, any user can participate in the platform’s overall growth by staking their BTT tokens on DLive. We are also a very community-centric platform, and we want to make sure everyone’s voice is heard. Our community team is always here to help DLive users solve any problems they might encounter. We also host various monthly community events in multiple regions to keep our users engaged.
Kate Wilson: What were the major issues that DLive was facing in its finance operations?
Charles Wayn: DLive is a global community, which means our users are used to receiving payments in their local currencies with different payment methods. As a company based in the United States, we needed to ensure that we could handle complex tax situations well for our users as required by law. As a relatively young company, we wanted to focus on rapid growth while prioritizing a seamless user experience. With a small team, we needed an automated solution that could help us expedite the local currency conversion workflow, support multiple payment methods, and collect tax information from beneficiaries.
Kate Wilson: How has payments automation transformed your business?
Charles Wayn: Tipalti provides an automated solution for payables with a streamlined white-labeled dashboard, which is easy to navigate. We just need to make sure we have enough funds in the account when we forward the payment requests to Tipalti with an integrated API, and Tipalti will take care of the rest. Through payments automation, we can deliver a top-notch user experience by providing a timely and painless transaction between our platform and our users.
Kate Wilson: Why do reliable payments improve your reputation within the streaming industry?
Charles Wayn: Automated payments contribute to our reputation as a user-centric platform. We are trusted by our users and provide them with a seamless brand experience and protected transaction solutions.
Kate Wilson: What’s the future for DLive?
Charles Wayn: DLive is on its way to becoming the world’s leading live streaming platform with more diversified content and a more globalized community. We value our users’ experience and endeavor to provide a place for them to voice their creativity and build authentic connections in a digital space.
