The Challenge

Improving Data Accuracy and Payout Timelines

Honeygain, a passive income app that allows users to earn by sharing their unused internet bandwidth, encountered significant obstacles in managing increasing global payouts. Payees were required to request withdrawals through the app, after which Honeygain would manually upload large CSV files and send email invitations asking the payees to complete their sign-up process. As a result, the payout process was over three to four days, which delayed payouts and created frustration for both the Honeygain team and its payees. 

As Honeygain expanded globally, the company grappled with escalating challenges in its payout processes. Payees were required to manually initiate withdrawals via the app, triggering a series of time-intensive steps. These included uploading payee details into a CSV file and sending email invitations for data completion. This manual system stretched payment processing to three to four days, resulting in delays and diminishing the user experience. 

Adding to the complexity, the information provided during payee onboarding was often inaccurate or incomplete, creating challenges for maintaining compliance with reporting standards. These data inconsistencies made verification difficult and introduced regulatory risks. Honeygain aimed to streamline onboarding, enhance data reliability, and ensure smooth, compliant payouts.

To overcome these operational challenges, Honeygain implemented Tipalti’s mass payments technology and API-driven integration. This seamless solution allowed users to input payment and personal details directly within Honeygain’s platform, streamlining the entire workflow by eliminating the need for a separate onboarding processes, manual CSV uploads, and email-based invitations. Now, payees can complete all required steps instantly, transitioning a several-day process into an efficient automated workflow. 

Additionally, dynamic fields within the IFrame tailored data collection requirements based on the payee’s payment method and location, and significantly improved accuracy and reduced errors. Honeygain also explored extending workflows to include document verification in high-risk regions. While manual review was involved in these cases, it added an extra validation layer without introducing operational inefficiencies.

Additionally, the optional ID verification feature in high-risk regions offered enhanced compliance controls without disrupting the overall workflow. Honeygain also benefited from the flexibility to expand payment options beyond PayPal, ensuring compliance with local regulations and aligning with evolving user needs.
